Accessibility
Statement
MEYUSH is committed to making our website accessible to everyone — including people with disabilities. This page explains what we've done, what we're still working on, and how to reach us if something isn't working for you.

01
Our commitment to accessibility
MEYUSH believes that access to information — and the ability to purchase ethically sourced products — should not be limited by disability, device, or circumstance. We are committed to building a website that is usable by as many people as possible, including those who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, or voice control.
Our accessibility work is ongoing. We are a small, independent brand based in Kolkata, and we are continuously learning and improving. We do not consider this statement a box to tick — it is a living document that reflects where we are, honestly.
We want to hear from you. If you experience a barrier on our website that prevents you from completing a purchase, accessing information, or using any feature — please email us at hello@meyush.com. We will respond within 2 business days and work to resolve the issue personally.
02
Conformance status
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines define requirements for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities.
WCAG defines three levels of conformance: Level A (minimum), Level AA (standard), and Level AAA (enhanced). Our current status is:
Level A
Substantially achieved across both domains
Level AA
Partially conformant — some gaps being addressed
Level AAA
Not targeted at this time — aspirational for select features
Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. The specific areas of non-conformance are listed in the Known Issues section below. Our goal is to achieve full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across both meyush.com (international) and meyush.co.in (India) by the end of 2025.
Known issues and limitations
We are transparent about where our website currently falls short. The following issues have been identified and are being actively addressed. We apologise for any inconvenience these may cause.

Third-party content
Our website is built on Wix, a third-party website platform. While we have control over the content and design of our pages, certain platform-level components — including the checkout flow, payment processing, and some interactive store widgets — are provided directly by Wix and may have their own accessibility limitations beyond our direct control.
We have raised known accessibility concerns with Wix through their support channels and monitor their published accessibility roadmap. Wix has published their own accessibility statement at support.wix.com.
We also embed social content from Instagram. These embeds are served by Instagram/Meta and are subject to their own accessibility support. Where possible, we provide text alternatives alongside embedded social content.
06
How we test for accessibility
Our accessibility testing process includes a combination of automated and manual methods:
-
🤖
Automated AuditingWe run automated scans using axe DevTools and Google Lighthouse on all core pages (homepage, shop, product pages, about, contact, checkout). Automated tests catch approximately 30–40% of accessibility issues.
-
🖥️
Screen Reader TestingKey user journeys (browsing products, reading our story, completing a purchase) are manually tested using NVDA with Chrome on Windows and VoiceOver with Safari on macOS and iOS.
-
⌨️
Keyboard-Only NavigationWe test all pages and interactive features using keyboard navigation only, verifying that all actions can be completed without a mouse.
-
🔬
Colour Contrast VerificationAll text and UI element colour combinations are checked against WCAG contrast requirements using the WebAIM Contrast Checker tool before launch.
-
📱
Mobile AccessibilityWe test on actual iOS and Android devices using built-in accessibility features including VoiceOver (iOS), TalkBack (Android), and display size/font scaling.
This accessibility statement was prepared in June 2025, based on a self-assessment conducted by the MEYUSH team. We plan to commission an independent accessibility audit by a certified professional before the end of 2025.
07
Improvement roadmap
The following improvements are planned or in progress. We publish this roadmap in the spirit of transparency.
Q3 2025
Fix all known SVG and animation ARIA issues
Add aria-hidden="true" to all decorative SVGs. Refine prefers-reduced-motion handling to fully disable all non-essential animation.
Q3 2025
Live region for cart and form notifications
Add aria-live regions to the cart toast notification, form success messages, and email signup confirmation so screen reader users are informed of status changes.
Q3 2025
Video captions for product content
Add closed captions and audio description tracks to any video content published on product pages and the Our Story page.
Q4 2025
Full blog accessibility review
Audit all published blog posts for consistent heading hierarchy, image alt text, and link clarity. Establish a pre-publish accessibility checklist for all future content.
Q4 2025
Independent third-party accessibility audit
Commission a full WCAG 2.1 AA audit by a certified accessibility professional across both meyush.com and meyush.co.in. Publish full findings and remediation plan.
Ongoing
Accessibility review for all new features
All new pages, product launches (Sundarbans Honey, Blue Matcha), and site features will include an accessibility review before going live.
